A Classroom of Monkey Bars and Slides
Read this great article in the NY Times. I think you'll find it interesting and relevant to the growth and development of children.
I have had several conversations with friends lately about the idea of kids being able to go out and play in the neighborhood with other children they live near. When I was growing up, my mom didn't know where I was all the time. When it was dinner time she rang a bell out the back door and we high tailed it home. Others have told me similar stories of heading home when the street lights came on or going to the park and picking teams for baseball games without adult supervision.
Certainly camp is a great way to provide those playful environments for children. We highly recommend it to all children!
